This is beautiful , Cynthia. Not everyone can paint horses very well- I haven't-maybe someday I will. Your love of horses shows in this piece-love the shone on this one also. Would love to see you paint a horse in the loose painterly style you desire. Before painting loosely-it helps to know how to paint realistically, as you have with Morgan2.Have fun playing with your paints...anything goes! Best to you. Marlene.

Posted on 10/31/2009 at 10:33 PM
Beautiful color handling of the pigments; and a familiar subject for many of us with our band instruments or suitcases or brief cases, sliding that button releasing the spring-loaded tab, and the satisfying ca-thunk as the tab flew back out of the way. Ahhh, the push-button age !! Maybe the inventor of that patent became a millionaire a hundred years ago, or whenever it was invented -- and was it even American, or maybe it was European -- I certainly grew up with them ! Nice work and good subject for, I suppose, an invention so ubiquitous we just don't notice them.

Hi Keith, Thanks for your nice comment. I love plein air painting and lived ten years on Amelia Island so enjoyed your beach scene very much. Of course I moved there because of all the Victorian houses in the old section of town. I still visit friends there each year, after doing my St. Simons Island Workshop in Georgia. .

My daughter loves frogs, we have 3 tree frogs and we catch bugs for them everyday. I always liked frogs and I designed a bunch of different peace frogs for a sticker company years ago, so frogs have always been fun for me.

Your Paradise Lost series is quite fascinating; this one especially caught my eye. I love the way you managed to depict the manmade projects, artistically while still protraying them as not a good thing, against the beauty of nature.
